01 ABOUT ABETA STUDIO & LAB

Good software
moves people.

Abeta is an independent digital product studio and open-source lab. We partner with ambitious founders to build enduring software products — then open-source the tools, libraries, and lessons we discover along the way.

02 OPERATING PHILOSOPHY

Four principles that
guide the work.

01

Proximity is an operating advantage

Keep the product, code, and customer conversation close together.

A small, senior team is not a lesser version of an agency; it is a superior operating system. When the person shaping product strategy sits directly beside the engineer writing the pull request, context is preserved and decisions happen in minutes, not meetings.

02

Systems over screens

Great interfaces are repeatable agreements, not isolated mockups.

A beautiful screen is a momentary artifact. A design system is what makes the next hundred moments coherent. We invest in semantic tokens, accessible primitives, and strict component contracts so product quality scales effortlessly.

03

Ship in public responsibly

Visibility sharpens decisions and invites unexpected collaborators.

We share our code, benchmarks, roadmaps, and mistakes openly. A public build note attracts early design partners and honest critiques before an assumption hardens into tech debt. Community is not an audience; it is part of the work.

04

Speed is the byproduct of care

Velocity comes from knowing what deserves care right now.

Haste creates bugs, security holes, and cognitive overload. True speed comes from ruthless scoping: deciding what not to build, writing failing tests first, and maintaining clean architectural boundaries.

03 STUDIO TIMELINE

From first commit
to the open lab.

Abeta formed as an independent design and engineering collective in Bengaluru, focusing on zero-to-one product prototyping for early-stage founders.

2025Q1

Launch of OpenStore & Canvas

Open-sourced OpenStore headless cart primitives and Canvas editorial design system, reaching our first 5,000 developer downloads.

2025Q4

The Abeta Journal & Community Desk

Debuted the community journal with peer-reviewed notes from engineers and designers shipping digital products in public.

2026Q1

React 19 & Next.js 16 Upgrade

2026Q3

The NextWork-Inspired Learning Studio

Expanded /learn into a project-based hands-on platform with verified checkpoints, personal dashboards, and proof-of-work certificates.

04 THE PEOPLE

Builders with
skin in the game.

We are a tight, senior group of practitioners. When you collaborate with Abeta, you work directly with the architects and designers crafting your product.

05 OPEN SOURCE LAB

Open Source Lab Governance

Our repositories are licensed under permissive MIT or Apache 2.0 licenses. We maintain clear stewardship principles:

  • No bait-and-switch: Core primitives remain free, open source, and self-hostable forever.
  • RFCs for breaking changes: All architectural modifications are published as open discussions before merging.
  • Kind and actionable code reviews: Every community pull request receives respectful, constructive technical evaluation.
  • Attribution: All contributors receive clear credit in releases, documentation, and the Abeta leaderboard.
